Today we had our first mishap...we nearly ran out of gas just outside of Las Vegas...we thought for sure that a quarter tank would take us 39 miles, but suddenly the indicator dropped like a lead balloon! We were panicky and wondered if we'd make it to the next town. Luckily it did and we vowed to never let the gas get that low again.
Anyway, Cedar City is unremarkable, but we're glad to have day one over with! » less

OMG, who knew that Utah was as beautiful as it was! Wow, the mountains were absolutely breathtaking and only matched by the beauty that was the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Wow. We stopped at a couple of sight-seeing viewing spots and snapped some video and pictures. Tomorrow we'll be passing Denver and will be heading fast and furious to Nebraska and the great mid west!!! » less

Gah, we are out of anything worth seeing, that's for sure! Nebraska is just mile after mile of corn fields and cows. Actually, I'm sort of glad to be out of all the steep grade mountains and curvy passes, but it sure would be nice to see something more interesting than a painted tire or a tumble weed! Maybe tomorrow will be more interesting! Maybe we'll get hit by a big f-5 tornado! It'd sure make a great YouTube video!!! » less

Today was uneventful except that we saw mile after hundreds of miles of nothing but cows and corn fields. We began to suspect that these people totally welcome the occasional tornado...hello, it's a welcome change from corn husking and whatever else they do here! Who needs this much corn?? Where does it all go? What do they do with it all?? Seriously....HUNDREDS OF MILES OF CORN FIELDS?? Egads!!!
We did see a lot of really pretty farm homes and whatever...but the scary folks we met at each truck stop totally took the wind out of those sails. Every other person looked like an extra in that film, "Children of the Corn". I am so looking forward to spending some time in New York City!!!! » less
